Lugar Minas da Caveira is a property, where people can experience the nature in diverse ways.

If you are planning to visit our Natural Park, please think about to make your Personal Registration in advance and

your Visit Reservation.

The Natural Park has been built following the existing natural elements, which largely resulted from the old mining activity.

Some of the new elements are water reserves and wetlands, which include new types of vegetation and large numbers of banana trees.

Other areas have vast areas of mixed forestation with Eucalyptus, Pine, Cork and a significant amount of wild 'Medronheiro'.

 

 

Open fields and usually covered by 'Esteva' or Rock Rose were cleared and forested with Canphor trees, Dragon trees, Robinia Pseudoacacia and other less common species.

'Esteva'  is an extremely invasive weed, which still covers some wild areas of the property thus providing a peculiar habitat for wild animals. In spring, its white flowers play an important role for the bee population.

Suitable land fields are used for the production of Bananas, Almonds, Oranges and other fruits, respecting natural production methods.

If you like sports, you will find several opportunities to pursue your activities, e.g. jogging, cycling or canooing.

If you are accompanied by children or young people you can choose to spend a few moments in the playground next to the lake, where you can also do barbell exercises and others.

The fact of being in this natural environment will provide you with moments of deep calm, which will lead you to dive into the magic of the 4 essential elements (earth, water, air and fire).
